MyVMK is a remake of the beloved game, VMK. There is no affiliation with the Walt Disney Company. This is a Volunteer Position.
Individual Contributions
As a Graphic Artist for the game My Virtual Magic Kingdom (MyVMK), I have the autonomy to conceptualize events, games, and assets for the MyVMK Community to enjoy. In Summer 2023, I conceptualized, pitched, and designed Summer Drop Crates. The Summer months are slower months for My Virtual Magic Kingdom, and my goal was to provide an interactive event for the players to participate in and enjoy. Players had the opportunity to chase beach balls in any of the Public Guest Rooms. These beach balls contained a crate filled with items my fellow Designers and I designed. My design contributions consisted of the unopened crate, the opened crate, the crate key, pins, a badge, as well as various animated and static clothing assets. These Summer Drop Crates successfully brought back returning players and inactive players to MyVMK, increasing the amount of players online synchronously.
Summer Drop Crate Assets
I conceptualized and illustrated the opened and unopened Summer drop crates along with crate key in Summer 2023. The unopened crate features Tamatoa from Walt Disney Animation Studios, “Moana.” Tamatoa is featured inside a sand filled beach pail. The key concept was inspired by building sandcastles and playing in the sand at the beach during the Summer. The key is used to dig the prize out of the crate; in this case some of Tamatoa’s treasure. This reveals the empty crate, or an empty sand bucket, with your prize in your inventory.

Featured here are pins I conceptualized and illustrated for the Summer 2023 Drop Crates on My Virtual Magic Kingdom. The inspiration for these pins were ocean stones inspired by the movie, “The Little Mermaid.”

Sago palm tree furniture
Featured here is a Sago palm tree furniture item I designed and illustrated for the Summer 2023 Drop Crates on My Virtual Magic Kingdom. This piece was designed based on a player’s in-game item suggestion.

Animated Clothing items
Featured here are the animated items I created for My Virtual Magic Kingdom. They were obtained by the MyVMK player base during the Summer Drop Crates Event in Summer 2023.
Baby Tick Tock Travel Pet: Inspired by Tick Tock from Walt Disney Animation Studios, “Peter Pan.” I designed all angles and movements of the animation frames.
Animated DJ Headphones: This was inspired by a MyVMK Staff item suggestion. I animated all angles of the animation frames.

In-game Version
Introducing MyVMK to a new type of clothing asset:
As an avid gamer, simulation and role playing games I enjoy playing feature various different types of clothing and accessories. With the original Virtual Magic Kingdom featuring unique items like Magic Spells, auras were a perfect addition to the game. The aura was inspired by a friend who introduced me to various games featuring static non-animated auras. I created the first auras introduced to MyVMK, starting with this Under the Sea Bubble Aura. My process consisted of determining the right template for multi-layered animation and animating each individual frame within the 5 angles of the avatar. Auras have become one of the most popular type of items available to the player base of MyVMK.
Floating Bubble: This was inspired by a MyVMK Player’s item suggestion. This piece was animated to float by the game developer.
Under the Sea Bubble Aura: I animated all angles of the animation frames.
Life is the Bubbles Animated Makeup: This was inspired by The Little Mermaid. I animated all angles of the animation frames.
